How the Business Days Calculator Works

Enter your start and end dates, choose your country to automatically exclude that country's official public holidays, and toggle whether to include or exclude the start and end dates themselves. The calculator counts every weekday (Monday–Friday) that is not a public holiday.

Unlike a simple date subtraction, this tool accounts for weekends and country-specific holidays, giving you the number that matters for professional deadlines — not just the raw calendar gap.

Frequently Asked Questions About Business Days

What counts as a business day?

A business day is any weekday (Monday through Friday) that is not a public holiday. Saturdays and Sundays are always excluded. Public holidays vary by country — select your country above to exclude the correct holidays automatically.

How many business days are in a month?

Most months contain between 19 and 23 business days depending on how weekends fall and how many public holidays occur. February typically has the fewest business days. Use the calculator above to get the exact count for any specific month and country.

Does the calculator include the start and end dates?

By default, the start date is excluded and the end date is excluded (the calculator counts the days between them). You can toggle "Include start date" or "Include end date" to change this — common in legal contracts that count from the day of signing.

How do I calculate what date is 30 business days from today?

Switch to the "Add Days to Date" tab, set today as your start date, enter 30 as the number of business days, and hit "Find the Date." The result will show the exact calendar date that falls 30 business days from now, excluding weekends and public holidays.

Can I share or bookmark my calculation?

Yes — after calculating, a shareable link appears below the result. Copy it and send it to a colleague, or bookmark it in your browser. The link encodes all your inputs so the calculation reloads automatically.

How accurate are the holiday dates?

The calculator uses fixed and computed public holidays for each country, covering major national holidays. Regional or local holidays (e.g. US state holidays, Scottish bank holidays) are not included. For critical legal or financial deadlines, always verify with an official source.

What's the difference between calendar days and business days?

Calendar days count every single day including weekends and holidays. Business days only count working weekdays. A 10-calendar-day period might contain only 6 or 7 business days depending on weekends and holidays — which is why this calculator exists.

How do I calculate business days for a contract notice period?

Enter the contract start date as your start date and count forward using the "Add Days to Date" tab. Enter the required notice period in business days. The calculator will skip weekends and public holidays automatically, giving you the exact calendar date the notice period expires.
